Oddly, on the way to school this morning, we spotted a frog on the pavement. Bailey was naturally fascinated. I did wonder if she'd swallow it in a single gulp as she does with standard roadkill fare - old chips, crisp bags, sweet wrappers, chewing gum - but I took a gamble on her gentle nature and let her have sniff.
The frog covered its eyes during the encounter (do they always do that??) but came out of it ok.
Really must get back to regular Bailey blogging but for now here's a shot of her taking exception to Mrs M's lovely xmas present from me - a pair of dalmation slippers (won in the dog training club raffle) and cosy nylon bed socks (from La Senza - classy, huh?).
As winter hits Scotland with a vengeance... ok, as the temperature drops a degree or two and we all start complaining, Bailey encounters frozen soil for the first time. Kinda put the kibosh on her digging mission today.
But for real entertainment you should see her skating around the wooden deck trying to get purchase for a pee or a poo. In fact, you will do if I ever manage to catch her antics on video. She performs classic cartoon-style crashes where her front paws splay out at speed and her jaw hits the desk (literally) while her back legs scramble frantically and send her into a spin. Hope it snows soon!
As of last night, Bailey's taken to humping her fleece. I'm not sure whether this is normal behaviour for a 4-month old puppy but it's not what we expected from a bitch.
Still I guess she's just expressing dominance rather than any sexual feelings - and when you're bottom of the human pack, being Top Fleece Dog has to count for something.
Quick walk in the park earlier with Rocco the 13-week old Manchester Terrier. The poor wee boy was feeling the cold and also, momentarily, Bailey's teeth. But check the video and you'll see it was far from a one-sided encounter.
